How to Turn On and Turn Off Safe Mode via the F8 Key in Windows

Windows provides a minimum system of resources to make repairs. The name of the system is Safe Mode.

In the Windows operating system, entering the Safe Mode system can be done by pressing the F8 key when booting. In fact, in Windows 10 you will find several ways to enter the Safe Mode system.

How to Turn On and Turn Off Safe Mode

In generations of Windows before Windows 10, the F8 key’s status as the entrance to the Safe Mode system is active by default. But this is different from Windows 10, the F8 key to enter the Safe Mode system is not active by default.

  1. Enter Windows in normal mode.
  2. Open Command Prompt (CMD) with Administrator status.
  3. Type the following command: bcdedit / set {default} bootmenupolicy standard
  4. Press Enter and restart the computer.

Please try to press the F8 key when booting, if the command is successful the F8 key will not take you to the Safe Mode Windows boot selection menu.

Meanwhile, to turn on Safe Mode on Windows 10 or Windows that has been turned off Safe Mode can follow the steps below:

  1. Enter Windows in normal mode.
  2. Open Command Prompt (CMD) with Administrator status.
  3. Type the following command: bcdedit / set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
  4. Press Enter and restart the computer.

Please try pressing the F8 key when booting and you will enter the Safe Mode boot menu.
